Over 50 years in Milwaukee
It's sad news for fans of the longtime pizza restaurant, which first opened its doors on the corner of North and Oakland Avenues in 1970. The restaurant operated on that corner for 40 years before a fire demolished the building in 2010.
Three years later, Pizza Man returned from the ashes, reopening its doors at 2597 N. Downer Ave. in July of 2013.
In the years that followed, the restaurant expanded, opening a second location in Wauwatosa as well as a location in Oak Creek. A carry-out location also operated for a short time at the Mequon Public Market.
By 2021, after changes to operations caused a dip in sales, the iconic pizza restaurant returned to its roots, adding beloved dishes to its menu and returning to its practice of sourcing high quality Wisconsin products.
In 2023, the iconic Milwaukee restaurant made another big move, relocating the restaurant to its final Milwaukee home on Humboldt Blvd., a location that sported a picturesque patio overlooking the river.
While there is no longer a Pizza Man in the City of Milwaukee, one Pizza Man location remains in operation at The Mayfair Collection, 11500 W. Burleigh St., in Wauwatosa.
