SAGE, the restaurant which opened last January at The Historic White House, 2900 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., has closed its doors effective this past weekend.
Owner, Allison Meinhardt, noted in an email to OnMilwaukee that she would like to thank the community for six beautiful years of service under The White House & SAGE.
Built in 1890 as the William C. Kneisler Building, the White House opened in 1891 as a Schlitz tied-house (read more on that here). Meinhardt purchased the building in 2019 and opened an upscale French restaurant on the ground floor later that year. In January of 2024, Meinhardt rebranded the restaurant as SAGE.
Meinhart notes that the first-floor bar and restaurant is currently available for lease. Interested parties can reach out to allisonmeinhardt@gmail.com to arrange for a showing.
The entire property, which originally went up for sale in September of 2024, is also still available for purchase. Inquiries and requests for showings can be directed to Stephanie Swinney Conard at stephc@kw.com.
