The Brewers worked out a new player before their game against Florida Saturday at Miller Park. They're probably not going to sign him any time soon, but that's OK. The guy would have to take a pay cut to play in the majors.
Comedian Dan Whitney -- known as "Larry the Cable Guy" -- took part in early batting practice with the Brewers before performing a pair of shows at the Riverside Theater.
Whitney, who met Brewers manager Ned Yost through their mutual friend, comedian Jeff Foxworthy, donned a sleeveless Brewers shirt with "Larry" on the back. When he was through hitting, Whitney filmed a scoreboard message imploring Brewers fans to "Git-R-Done."
Whitney took BP with the club during a Milwaukee stop a few years and about 50 pounds ago. At that time, the Brewers were in a bit of a down cycle and Yost told them to report early for a meeting so that the team psychologist could address the group.
None of the players seemed particularly excited about the development, until they realized that the meeting was actually a gut-busting 20-minute routine from "Larry."
