This Sunday, the Chicago Cubs are buying Brewers fans free beer at The Drunk Uncle, 1902 S. 68th St., in West Allis, says bar owner Neal Steffek.
On Friday, Budweiser distributor Beechwood Distributing delivered 10 barrels of IPA brewed by Chicago-based Goose Island – which is owned by Anheuser-Busch – to the bar, according to owner Neal Steffek.
The beer will be free Sunday, 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the bar.
"My guess is that’s how long it will take to get rid of it all," says Steffek.
The Cubs may face the Brewers in the Wild Card series, depending on the results of this weekend's Brewers-Cubs series at American Family Field.
"My distributor got a hold of me on it," says Steffek. "They were the middle man. I think it’s just me, I haven’t heard of anyone else doing it."
Steffek says Beechwood told him the Cubs were buying.
So, really, why is the team from Am Fam Field South treating the Brew Crew faithful?
"Cubs are in town, playoff hunt, last game of the year," says Steffek, "so it’s a nice way to celebrate, I guess."
At the time of writing, the Brewers were leading the Cubs, 3-2, in the eighth inning of the season-ending three-game series in Milwaukee.
The Wild Card series begins on Tuesday and the Brewers will face either the Cubs or the Marlins.
