It's not looking like a white Christmas around these parts this year, but there's at least one part of town with a snowy winter wonderland: The Rock Snowpark, which opens for the season starting today.
Located at The Rock Complex in Franklin – 7011 S. Ballpark Drive – the Snowpark features multiple hills, lanes and trails for snowboarding, skiing and tubing fun no matter if you're a beginner or an expert, and no matter if mother nature's being a little stringent on the white stuff. (The Crystal Bowl and The Drop are closed for the time being, but the rest of the paths and terrains are open.)
The Snowpark also offers lessons for those wanting to learn or simply perfect their powder-riding ways. Lessons must be booked online in advance, as there are no walk-ins offered.
For opening day, the Snowpark is open 1-9 p.m. before switching to its holiday season hours – 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. – through Jan. 2.
Due to the onngoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Snowpark does have some policy changes and recommendations for the upcoming winter season – including notes to social distance, mask up and prepare use your car as your lodge. For more of the Snowpark's policies and precautions, view the video below.

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
