The Rock Sports Complex’s wildly popular outdoor scare fest, The Hill Has Eyes returns for its ninth year on Friday, Oct. 9 at 7900 Crystal Ridge Rd. in Franklin.
The 45-acre field of screams is entirely outdoors and boasts a full hour of terror.
“Every year our goal is to make The Hill Has Eyes scarier than the year before,” said Haunt Director Joe Zimmerman. “This year, our team of actors, makeup artists, and special effects wizards rose to the challenge of creating chills and thrills in an all-outdoor setting that ensures social distancing and safety in the age of COVID-19.”
Also back is The Not So Scary Halloween Party. The fourth annual event puts a little kid focus on The Hill Has Eyes on from 2:30 until 4:45 p.m. on Sundays through Nov. 1.
This version of the experience is aimed at kids ages 8-12.
“This year our challenge is clear: How do we make Hill Has Eyes scarier than ‘2020’ has already been in real life?” said ROC Ventures CEO Mike Zimmerman. “It turns out that fleeing from ghouls is a great stress reliever!”
ROC Ventures teamed with The Franklin Health Department to reconfigure The Hill Has Eyes to make it as safe as possible for guests and employees.
The bigger area allows for spreading out attractions and the removal of indoor experiences adds to safety, too. Guests, actors and employees are also required to mask up for the experience. Masks will be available for sale on-site.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lived until he was 17, Bobby received his BA-Mass Communications from UWM in 1989 and has lived in Walker's Point, Bay View, Enderis Park, South Milwaukee and on the East Side.
He has published three non-fiction books in Italy – including one about an event in Milwaukee history, which was published in the U.S. in autumn 2010. Four more books, all about Milwaukee, have been published by The History Press.
With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.
He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.
In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.
He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
