Thirteen years ago, I went to Splash Studio – in its original Third Ward location –  and it was the first time I tried a "sip and paint" experience. As I expressed in my article, I was a bit daunted by it, wondering if my painting skills were up to snuff enough.

Turns out, my partner's mermaid painting was way better than mine, but I realized that wasn't the point. We had fun!

After a few-year hiatus, Splash Studio is back; this time it's located inside The New Fashioned, 1122 N. Vel R. Phillips Ave. Splash Studio officially opens Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025 and it's committed to providing an elevated experience for both art enthusiasts and first-time painters.

The new Splash Studio features a themed craft cocktail list and a Wisconsin-forward food menu. All sessions are led by a painting instructor who helps with creative direction and guidance.

During the official launch of Splash Studio on Feb. 1, guests will paint The Hoan Bridge. Valentine’s Day weekend will feature special couples’ paintings such as guest favorites Trunks and Bird’s Eye View, and sessions include complimentary sparkling wine and chocolate-covered strawberries.

While at The New Fashioned, Splash Studio guests can also enjoy HyperBowling, dartball, deck curling, quick service food and Milwaukee’s largest self-pour tap wall.

“Since it first opened in 2012, Splash Studio has always been about creativity and connection,” said David Poytinger, Bars & Recreation’s Chief Innovation Officer. “Now at The New Fashioned, we’re bringing this classic experience to the heart of Downtown Milwaukee.”
