It's not like we need particular weather to indulge in a fruity, icy, adult libation, but spring does make imbibing slushie cocktails extra appealing. Historically, the drinks are called "daiquiris," but we find "slushie drinks" to be much more convivial. So whatever you wanna call them – and whenever you want to drink them – here are five places that'll set you up with a good one.

1. Royal Street MKE
4191 N. Green Bay Rd., (414) 810-0410

This lounge in Milwaukee's Rufus King neighborhood opened in 2021 as Daq Shack. Recently, the place got a makeover from "Bar Rescue" and was renamed "Royal Street," after a popular thoroughfare in New Orleans. But the New Orleans theme doesn't stop with the name. The once bright-and-white decor is now moodier and more ambient, featuring NOLA colors like burgundy, gold and turqouise. Royal Street offers 10 rotating daiquiri flavors made with vodka, rum, tequila, cognac and whiskey – along with myriad fruits and flavors. It also has a New Orleans-inspired food menu.

2. Tropic Lounge
518 N. Water St., (414) 212-8577

Tropic Lounge also received a "Bar Rescue" remodel recently and now sports a new look, vibe and food/drink menu.  The Carribbean-themed lounge and restaurant churns out a half dozen slushie drinks, including "Henny Colada," "Crown Jewel," and “The Treasure Beach" – a tribute to a beach in Jamaica where the owner's father grew up. Tropic also has a Patron frozen margarita flight with four different fruit-blended margaritas. Read more about Tropic Lounge here.

3. S’lush Daiquiri Lounge
1110 N. Dr. MLK Jr. Dr., (414) 312-7777

S'lush –  a play on the words "slush" and "lush" – opened in Downtown Milwaukee in 2022 and has been quenching our "lust for slush" ever since. The lounge and eatery has roughly two dozen frozen drinks, all of which come in a size large or size larger. Favorites include "Slap Yo Mama," "Lit AF," "Entanglement," "Pink Panties" or guests can create a signature mix. To read more about S'lush, go here.

4. West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shop

West Allis Cheese & Sausage Shop inside the Milwaukee Public Market  whips up six different frozen drinks, including Milwaukee-themed slushies like the Brandy Old Fashioned and the Vodka Milwaukee Mule. Kids'/zero-proof slushies are also available. All pair deliciously with the Brew City noshes on the menu, including killer deep-fried cheese curds.

5. Great Lakes Distillery

slushie

Since 2021, Great Lakes Distillery has been slush-i-fying its made-onsite spirits. The icy cocktails are available in two flavors: the Caramel Milwaukiatto (Still & Oak Straight Bourbon, Good Land Coffee Liqueur, coffee, caramel, cream) is the stalwart slushie, and the second flavor rotates. Currently, a lavender lemonade flavor is in the mix. The distillery's sister tasting room in West Allis, Still & Oak, plans to unveil new slushie machines later this spring or summer.
