This afternoon, the Wisconsin State Fair announced that teen pop sensation Shawn Mendes will serve as the festival's opening night Main Stage act at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4.
Starting as a simple Vine sensation in 2013, recording short covers of popular songs, the 17-year-old graduated to becoming a pop star in his own right over the past year, scoring big radio hits with "Stitches" and, most recently, "I Know What You Did Last Summer." He also opened several dates for Taylor Swift's blockbuster 1989 World Tour, won the People's Choice Award for Favorite Breakout Artist and made his acting debut on The CW's popular dystopian TV show, "The 100."
Tickets for the show – which include State Fair admission – will cost $29 and $39, and they will go on sale at the State Fair Ticket Office (located at 7722 W. Greenfield Ave.) or online at State Fair's website beginning Saturday, Feb. 20 at 8 a.m.
There will also be two ticket presales: one Fan Club presale taking place from Monday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. through Friday, Feb. 19 at 10 p.m., as well as one American Express presale starting on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. and running through Friday, Feb. 19 at 10 p.m. There is a six-ticket maximum per customer.
The Wisconsin State Fair will run from Thursday, Aug. 4 through Sunday, Aug. 14.
