The BMO Pavilion lineup for Summerfest 2025 is ever expanding, and on Tuesday, that included one more name, as indie mainstays Japanese Breakfast announced both a new album and a 19-date North American summer tour.
The band will play Summerfest on June 21st, closing out the first weekend of the festival at the BMO Pavilion stage. Tuesday’s announced show will mark only their fourth Milwaukee appearance, and second Summerfest gig. They last played the festival in 2023 on the Generac Power Stage.
The band teased news on Instagram Monday, when they posted “big news day tomorrow,” and they certainly didn’t hold back. The tour announcement comes along with the announcement of “For Melancholy Brunettes (& Sad Women),” the band’s fourth full-length album, which is slated to release on March 21st. The “Melancholy” tour will also include a stop in Chicago on May 2nd, well before the festival date. Just after Summerfest, the band will head to Europe for a string of dates before returning stateside. If that wasn’t enough, the band also released a lyric video for “Orlando In Love,” the lead single from the record.
