Fiserv Forum today announced that pop star Shawn Mendes will bring his current tour to the arena on Tuesday, June 25 – the day before the opening of Summeriest. Fellow pop star Alessia Cara will join the "In My Blood" singer for this latest Milwaukee stop.
The concert marks the second Brew City stop in the past year for Mendes – just recently a two-time nominee and performer at this month's Grammy awards. The "Stitches" crooner also headlined the Big Gig last July in front of an audience I described in my review as a "screaming, shrieking, eardrum-destroying crowd." Let's see what else I had to say!
"Well, eardrums, we had a good run. But after almost 28 years of listening power, my ability to hear finally had enough, dying off the way of the dodo or a Wendy's frosty left out in the summer heat.
"Now, this isn't meant as some kind of snarky critic insult, because Shawn Mendes was actually terrific Thursday night headlining the American Family Insurance Amphitheater, cruising through his handful of top-40 hits along with a few surprises in his 70-minute set.
"No, it was the massive – and massively loud –turnout of fans, from the first dimming of the lights to the final chorus of Mendes' closer, "Treat You Better," shrieking and screaming and shouting and, by the end of the night, slaughtering my poor ear holes. And the worst part is I can't even blame them, thanks to Mendes' efficiently excellent collection of poppy singer-songwriter hits and charming low-key charisma."
He's only gotten more popular since that show and that was in an open-air venue – so best of luck this time around, parents!
Tickets for the show will go on sale starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, at Fiserv Forum's website. Maybe pack some earplugs just to be safe.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
