Snoop Dogg will kick off Potawatomi Amplified this weekend – but before the rap legend drops it like it's hot on Saturday, Potawatomi already announced who's warming up next for the new summer concert series: not just one but two days of star-studded Tejano music with the Tejano America Fest.
Hosted Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28 in the temporary outdoor venue just west of the casino in the former Cargill lot, Tejano America Fest will feature Grammy-winning "King of the Accordion" Ramón Ayala, popular Norteño band Duelo, Latin Grammy award-winner Bobby Pulido, a Selena tribute and much more. The two-day Tejano-travaganza will come hosted by acting icon Edward James Olmos ("Stand and Deliver," "Blade Runner," "Battlestar Galactica" and many more) as well as Jennifer Lopez tribute artist Connie P.
“Vaqueros y vaqueras, get your botas ready for two days of Tejano at Potawatomi Amplified," said Potawatomi Casino Hotel CEO/GM in a release. "We’ll feature some of the largest acts from the Tejano music scene and I’m ecstatic about bringing these Tejano icons to not only Milwaukee, but to Potawatomi. I think this will be a big hit."
The two-day concert celebration serves as the second of three Potawatomi Amplified outdoor shows planned for the casino grounds this summer, beginning with Snoop Dogg this Saturday. The outdoor venue will offer a number different seating options – from picnic benches to VIP tents – along with food and beverages for purchase from Zocalo Food Truck Park as well as free parking in the Potawatomi structure.
Tickets for the Tejano America Fest will go on sale to the public starting Wednesday, June 12 at Potawatomi Casino Hotel's website. Prices have yet to be announced.
The third part of the Potawatomi Amplified live music trilogy – stepping into the spotlight in August – has yet to be announced, so stay tuned to Potawatomi's website for more updates. And for more Milwaukee concert news, check out our monthly live music guide.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
