The Milwaukee Poetry Contest ends Friday, Sept. 29 at midnight. First place is a $100 gift certificate to Schwartz Bookshops, which is a lot of pages. Or a lot of lattes, if you're more into beans than books.

Need a little refresher about the contest? Sure:

 

  • The contest runs from Tuesday, Sept. 19 through Friday, Sept. 29.
  •  

  • Poems may be any length or style, but must be about Milwaukee or contain the word "Milwaukee." Only one submission per poet, please.

     

  •  

  • The first prize is a $100 gift certificate from Schwartz Bookshops. The runner up receives an OnMilwaukee.com gift pack. Both winners will be featured in an OnMilwaukee.com article and have their poems published on the site.

  • Winners will be notified the week of Oct. 2.

  • Writers can submit poems via e-mail to poetry@staff.onmilwaukee.com.

    Molly Snyder started writing and publishing her work at the age 10, when her community newspaper printed her poem, "The Unicorn.” Since then, she's expanded beyond the subject of mythical creatures and written in many different mediums but, nearest and dearest to her heart, thousands of articles for OnMilwaukee.

    Molly is a regular contributor to FOX6 News and numerous radio stations as well as the co-host of "Dandelions: A Podcast For Women.” She's received five Milwaukee Press Club Awards, served as the Pfister Narrator and is the Wisconsin State Fair’s Celebrity Cream Puff Eating Champion of 2019.
