When’s the last time you paid a visit to 3rd Street Market Hall, 275 W, Wisconsin Ave.?

If it’s been a while, consider this your invitation to head back and check out all that’s new and delicious. That includes new vendors including Mr. Wings and Paper Plan Pizza, both of which will be in full operation this weekend at the Downtown food hall. And if you’re a soccer fan, you can also look forward to plenty of fun surrounding the upcoming World Cup.

Mr. Wings

Owned by wingmaster Manny Ramirez, Mr. Wings operates a memorably edgy booth with a video-game-style pick-up window and a menu filled with finger-lickin’ options.

That includes their signature crispy chicken wings, chicken tenders and vegetarian wings (made with mushroom-based protein). Guests can choose from lemon pepper dry rub or sauces including mild buffalo, honey BBQ, Gold Digger mustard-based BBQ and Jamaican Me Jerk.

There are also PiXlz (Pickle Fries) and StaXz (mozzarella sticks tossed in house-made sauces). 

Paper Plane Pizza

Meanwhile, there’s Paper Plane Pizza, which brings a menu of hand tossed pizzas, sandwiches and salads to the food hall. 

Created by owners Dustin Drankiewicz and Milos Stevanovic Paper Plane Pizza got its start as a food truck and pop-up restaurant in Chicago. 

“We’ve been saying since we started with the pop ups, there’s no magic show or bells and whistles. It’s just damn good pizza,” says Drankiewicz.

On the pizza side, guests can choose from options like the “Plane Jane” (Mozzarella cheese blend, house red sauce, fresh basil), the “Veggies” (roasted red pepper, onion, feta, garlic herb oil) and the “Sconnie Special” (Usinger’s sausage, kraut, pickles, and beer mustard) or build their own 12” or 18” pies. Slices of the pizza of the day are also available for purchase.

Paper Plane also offers a selection of hoagies including the Dilly BLT with bacon, marinated tomato, mixed greens and dilly ranch; a Veggie & Feta sandwich or a House Sausage Hoagie with a Paper Plane sausage patty, mozzarella, giardiniera and red sauce. 

The World Cup

To accommodate festivities surrounding the World Cup, 3rd Street Market Hall has also installed a new 15-foot screen with an HD projector to offer soccer fans a one-of-a-kind viewing experience.

Guests can also look forward to promotions and unique activations in collaboration with SWARMM Events throughout the tournament. For example, fans should keep an eye out on social media for special features on Monday, Nov. 21 during the 1pm match between the U.S. and Wales and on Friday Nov. 25 for the match between the U.S. and England, 

In addition to viewing parties for the World Cup, 3rd St. Market Hall is gearing up to host a variety of sports and live entertainment events at the food hall moving forward.

“We’re excited to piggyback off of the great energy of the city and rally behind these exciting events,” says general manager Eric Kaye, “We’re continually growing and evolving and we love creating innovative ways for our guests to experience the property.”
