Whether you’re planning to spend some time watching the U.S. Open at Erin Hills (if so, we've got tips to do it right), or just looking for something fun to do on Thursday evening, we’ve got an event you won’t want to miss ... and not just because it's chock-full of amazing golf-related puns.

Once summer is nigh and the sun is shining, there are few better places to grab a drink and a great view than The Outsider, the rooftop bar and lounge located on the ninth floor of The Kimpton Journeyman Hotel at 310 E. Chicago St. But, the deal gets sweeter on Thursday, June 15 beginning at 4 p.m., when The Outsider hosts a golf-themed "Par-Tee" on the rooftop.

The event, which runs until 6 p.m. will feature complementary golf-themed food, special drinks available for purchase and activities, including a bit of putting with golf pro Vince Pulizzano.

The rooftop will be transformed into a golf-lover’s haven, featuring patches of lush green grass along with televisions showing golf-themed movies and highlights.

Among the complementary themed menu items created by Executive Chef Heather Terhune are cleverly named bites like:

  • Club House Sandwiches: turkey, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo, avocado
  • Bogey Hoagies: salami, mortadella, provolone, gardinere, red wine vinaigrette, shredded lettuce
  • Birdie Sandwich: buttermilk fried chicken, mayonnaise, pickles
  • Par-faits: layers of hummus, yogurt, braised chickpeas, marinated cucumbers, tomato, feta, pita crisps and raw vegetables
  • Chip and Dip Shots: house made onion dip and rosemary chips
  • Hole-in-One doughnut holes
  • Golf ball-shaped cake pops
  • Assorted golf-themed cupcakes

In addition to the regular drink menu, tasty seasonal (and golf-inspired) cocktails will also be available including the Mezcal Mulligans, a fresh smoky take on the Moscow Mule, The Gin Keeper and the John Daly, a take on the classic Arnold Palmer featuring iced tea, lemonade, vodka and Cointreau.

From 5 to 6 p.m., guests will also have the opportunity to glean advice from and participate in a competition with golf professional Vince Pulizzano. Other activities include a golden tee machine and photo booth featuring fun golf accessories.
