Welcome to Milwaukee Film Festival 2018: The Ocho – and welcome to a post on the internet in the year 2018 that opens with a very timely "Dodgeball" reference. I am very proud.
Anyways, it's Day 8, and as that intro may have slightly alluded, I'm only mostly losing my mind from all the movies I've been watching. And it's the most glorious cinema-induced dementia – one I only intend to increase by watching more terrific films, such as these three I've selected for today. One has the best resume of the entire festival (three Oscar winners, including a two-time victor, no big deal), one is a buzzy showbiz documentary and one is a foreign thriller almost certain to get an American remake because it just sounds so good.
No more teasing; let's get to the picks!
Here's where and when to find my three to see for Day 8:
- "The Guilty" will show at the Oriental Theatre at 6 p.m.
- "Everybody Knows" will show at the Oriental Theatre at 6:30 p.m.
- "Love, Gilda" will show at the Oriental Theatre at 7:15 p.m.
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
