Owners Carina (Cat) Tran and Mark Nielsen have announced that they are closing Hue Vietnamese Restaurant at 6519 W. North Ave. in Wauwatosa.
The restaurant, which opened in 2014, will be open through end of business on April 10, after which the building will transition for use as a hub for Hue SquareMeal Fresh Frozen Meal service, production for local hunger relief programs, catering, and Hue food truck operations.
Despite the closing, the Tosa area will not be devoid of the restaurant's Vietnamese fare. The Hue Asian Kitchen Food Truck will continue to have a presence, making appearances at The Landing at Hoyt Park and other locations.
Gift cards for the restaurant can continue to be used at the Wauwatosa location through April 10. They will also be honored at Hue in Bay View.
"We want to thank the Wauwatosa community for its support over the last seven years," Tran and Nielsen noted in a statement on the closure. "While the COVID Pandemic has certainly been challenging, this closure is due to the expiration of our lease... and part of a larger reorganization plan."
The owners say they will be focusing their energy and efforts on an expansion plan in Bay View, which includes the redevelopment of the Sven’s Café land and building at 2699 S Kinnickinnic Ave., which they acquired in 2019.
