The Milwaukee Bucks’ Robert Indiana-inspired court will make its regular season debut tomorrow night when the team takes on the Washington Wizards at 7 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The first 5,000 fans will receive a 5x7 print of the new court, commemorating the first regular season home game played on the floor. Also, fans ages 14 and under will be invited to shoot a free throw on the court following the game.
"We practiced on it today and it’s great," said forward John Henson after the team’s morning workout at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. "It feels good on my knees and it looks great. I know our fans liked the look of it, too, and we hope they’ll come on out and see us in action."
O.J. Mayo echoed his teammate’s remarks: "It’s a really good court, good design, and we look forward to playing on it."
The Bucks unveiled the new court design at an event on Sept. 24 at the Milwaukee Art Museum and used the court for the team’s annual open practice on Oct. 5 and first home preseason game on Oct. 12.
In the team’s final preseason game on Oct. 25, the court was ruled unplayable by NBA officials due to excessive slipping by players, and the game was cancelled midway through the first period. The new court was completely resurfaced to ensure player safety and the Bucks court from the 2012-13 season was used for the first six home games of the regular season.
The Bucks have plans for a special MVP appreciation night later this season where season ticket subscribers will be recognized by having their names placed on the mid-court stripe of the court during a game.
The first 10,000 fans will receive a free 2014 Bucks calendar.
The Bucks continue to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday weekend on Saturday night, when they welcome the Boston Celtics to Milwaukee on Super Hero Night.
All kids 14 and under will receive a free Bucks super hero cape at the door. Family Night packages, starting at just $79, include four tickets, four food items, four Pepsi beverages and a Pizza Hut discount voucher, and can be purchased at Bucks.com/Family.
