Amped, the new private suite karaoke and events bar found in the Brewery District, will celebrate its grand opening this weekend with rockin' setlist of fun activities, special giveaways and crooning contests.
First opened late last year, the new Bars & Recreation spot – found at 910 W. Juneau Ave. – features ten suites for private karaoke plus two spaces for private meetings or events, and a full bar. And they'll all be in action Friday, Jan. 20 through Sunday, Jan. 22 for their grand opening gala.
“We have the opportunity to showcase this fun and amazing bar with sing-along events, craft cocktails, awesome snacks ... and, of course, private suite karaoke,” said Bars & Recreation’s Director of Experiences Steve Davis, in a release. “Private Suite Karaoke is an experience karaoke-aficionados and skeptics love doing. There is just something about partying with your friends in a private suite with the music, party lights, drinks and snacks. Two hours will fly by, and you’ll be back for more.”
The grandest of the grand opening festivities will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21, beginning right at doors open at 11:30 a.m. with the first 100 people through the door receiving a bag of giveaways from Amped and its Brewery District neighbors. The karaoke bar will then host special sing-along extravaganzas, including sing-along music bingo at 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., kamikaze name that tune karaoke at 2 p.m., and a sing-along screening of "Grease" at 4 p.m. Plus, for those who love sports and singing, Amped will have watch parties of all the day's NBA and NFL playoff action.
All of Amped's special grand opening events are open to the public – though tickets are required, available at Amped's website. As for the private suite karaoke, reservations are available – also through the bar's website – throughout the weekend for groups up to 20 people, with the first 50 customers to reserve a suite earning a free bucket of Mamitas tequila seltzers.
To book a reservation, buy grand opening tickets or find out more about Amped, visit the venue's website – and here's to hearing you all (hopefully in tune) at Amped!
As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
