2Mesa Mexican Eatery is officially in soft opening mode at 4110 W. Martin Dr. in the former home of Birdie’s Cafe and Highland Pies.

The restaurant, which will host its grand opening on Thursday, March 29, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, is owned and operated by Chef Michael Feker and his wife Maricela, whose family recipes and favorite dishes from her home state of Jalisco, Mexico, form the basis of the menu.

The breakfast offerings at 2Mesa include dishes like chilaquiles with scrambled eggs and Mexican beans, a selection of omelets and classic bacon and eggs. Dishes are $8.95 each and served with a side of Mexican beans and potatoes. Freshly squeezed juices, espresso drinks and beverages including cafe con leche are also available.

For lunch, guests can enjoy salads, including a Jalisco steak salad featuring grilled steak, chorizo-infused potatoes, pinto beans and panela cheese atop mixed greens with an herb vinaigrette ($10.95); a selection of tortas, including the Sonoran with roast beef, red onion, tomato, watercress and chili spread, served alongside Mexican fries ($10.95); and tacos, including selections made with shredded chicken, grassfed beef shortribs, braised lamb barbacoa and vegetarian tacos featuring mushrooms, spinach, zucchini and Oaxacan cheese (plates include 3 tacos with rice, beans and mixed greens for $10.95-13.95).

Meanwhile dinner options include appetizers like quesadillas, nachos, empanadas and guacamole ($4.95-5.95) along with entrees like steak tampiquena featuring New York strip with caramelized onions, mushrooms and tomato pan sauce served alongside a cheese enchilada and fries ($16.95), a grilled pork chop with creamy tomatillo and roasted apple sauce served with agave nectar infused camote and beans ($15.95) and a daily fish special served with Veracruzan salsa, rice and beans ($16.95).

2Mesa is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
