For the average person, spring cleaning means "it's finally time to find a more suitable home for all those untouched, unused and unwanted Christmas gifts that have spent the last three months cluttering desks, closets and the basement stairs."

For WMSE, it's a little more exciting. It too needs to weed out the clutter to make room for new goodies, and that's good news for music geeks. This Sunday, March 30 WMSE hosts its annual Music Rummage Blowout at MSOE's Todd Wehr Conference Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Not only is the radio station opening its sacred LP-lined vaults, but it's also invited a few of its friends -- Atomic Records, Rush-Mor Records, Luv Unlimited, Cranky Uncle Trotsky's and Crouton Records -- to do the same.

Selection will be high, prices will be low and the refreshments will be refreshing. WMSE's own Lemonie Fresh and Dietrich will be there to spin the tunes while you shop. It's only $3 and all the proceeds benefit WMSE.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
