Quantity/price
Wings are $8 for six or $12 for a dozen. But note that both Monday and Wednesday are wings days and wings are 75 cents each on those days.
Flavor options
So many options on tap here, plus be sure to check the board on the wall that lists limited-time-only sauces and flavors, including things like shawarma, gyro, guacamole ranch, gochujang and, wait for it, Reese’s Pieces.
The standard menu has a couple dozen flavors, from the WingFest winning maple bacon to standard Buffalo (also available in XXX!) to Thai chili to the five-alarm Blazing Saddles, with “steak sauce with five of the hottest peppers on the Scoville scale.”
Each option is available grilled, naked or crispy and boneless “wings” are also available.
I tried the maple bacon crispy and the Lucky Clucker dry rub with savory herbs and roasted garlic grilled.
Both were nicely spiced and not at all hot, which was ok with me. If you want to bring the flames, however, you’ll want to choose from lower down on the menu, where the scorch factor is much higher.
Size and shape
Three drummettes and three flats in each half-dozen order and the wings were average in size.
Verdict
The wings were solid: juicy and flavorful. My only regret was that I didn’t get to try something with sauce, but that was on me for assuming the maple bacon would be wet. Anyway, it just means I have to go back soon, which is fine by me.
The staff was friendly, the atmosphere classic corner bar and grill and they had an Eagle Park hazy IPA on tap, so why not?
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lived until he was 17, Bobby received his BA-Mass Communications from UWM in 1989 and has lived in Walker's Point, Bay View, Enderis Park, South Milwaukee and on the East Side.
He has published three non-fiction books in Italy – including one about an event in Milwaukee history, which was published in the U.S. in autumn 2010. Four more books, all about Milwaukee, have been published by The History Press.
With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.
He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.
In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.
He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
