For several years, it's been an OnMilwaukee.com holiday tradition to give our employees the week off between Christmas and New Year's. Most of our clients aren't working much, if at all, this week, so we think it's a nice treat to use this time to slow down a bit, too.

Of course, life goes on at OnMilwaukee.com, even if we're not technically in the office, and we're all expected to check e-mails, activate Talkbacks and post stories and blogs.

But for me, being out of the office has hurt my creativity, even if it's recharged my batteries. For some reason, it's hard to motivate myself to blog while sitting on my couch with a 2-year-old hanging from my legs and a dog trying to steal my food.

So I came into the dark and quiet office, where I found my business partner, Jeff, also facing the challenge. Even in this age of telecommuting, I work better ... at work.

Unfortunately, I just don't have much to say this week. Even with this motivation, peace and quiet, I'm still cursed with an awful case of writer's block, and I think I used up all my remaining 2010 creativity with two days of fill-in duty on Kramp and Adler's morning show on FM102.1. Tomorrow, I do my regular appearance on Dave and Carole to preview New Year's Eve events.

In other words, that's all I got.

In the meantime, I'm sorry for both wasting your time with this pointless blog, and conversely, for giving you nothing to read of mine over the last week.

I find I can tweet fairly well from the couch, though, so if you really need your Andy Tarnoff fix (and why would you?), please do feel free to follow me on Twitter.

And next week, I promise to work extra hard to deliver on some creative blogs. See you next year, Milwaukee!

He returned to Milwaukee in 1996 after living on the East Coast for nine years, where he wrote for The Dallas Morning News Washington Bureau and worked in the White House Office of Communications. He was also Associate Editor of The GW Hatchet, his college newspaper at The George Washington University.

Before launching OnMilwaukee.com in 1998 at age 23, he worked in public relations for two Milwaukee firms, most of the time daydreaming about starting his own publication.

Hobbies include running when he finds the time, fixing the rust on his '75 MGB, mowing the lawn at his cottage in the Northwoods, and making an annual pilgrimage to Phoenix for Brewers Spring Training.
