The 15-2 Milwaukee Wave MACC Fund Game this Sunday afternoon, Feb. 12, at the US Cellular Arena features the Wave against the Missouri Comets at 3 p.m.
A win will help the Wave's position to gain home field advantage throughout the playoffs. This game is another example of the Wave's wonderful support of the MACC Fund which spans their impressive history.
The Milwaukee Wave have been great friends of the MACC Fund throughout their impressive history.
Head coach Keith Tozer, who recently passed the 700 win mark with an impressive win over Syracuse, and the Wave players are always willing to kick in to help the MACC Fund whether it means appearing at MACC Fund events or joining Women for MACC in visiting the children in the MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin or hosting games like the Wave MACC Fund Game.
Sunday's game promises to be a great game for a great cause. This game is part of the Wave's commitment to helping a different non-profit in the community for every home game. A highlight of these games is the M&I Charitable Jersey. The Wave creates a custom jersey for each game for the charity benefiting from the games.
Fans attending the Wave MACC Fund game can take home their favorite player's jersey by bidding for it outside of Section 325 in the US Cellular Arena until half time. Proceeds from the M & I Charitable Jersey auction and the 50/50 raffle will benefit the MACC Fund for the Wave – Comets game. In addition, the MACC Fund receives $2 for every ticket purchased through www.milwaukeewave.com when they mention the MACC Fund.
A highlight for the MACC Fund on Sunday will be 9-year-old Maggie Conlon taking part in the Wave's pregame ceremony by kicking out the ball. Maggie was born with a golf ball-sized tumor under her tongue. When she was 5 weeks old she underwent surgery to remove it leading to the discovery of a rare form of childhood cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma.
Maggie underwent 19 months of intense chemotherapy. Now "off treatment" for nearly 8 years, Maggie looks forward to her annual check ups at the MACC Fund Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. A happy fun loving fourth grader, Maggie will wear her Brookfield Soccer Association uniform to take part in Sunday's Wave MACC Fund Game.
