On Sept. 7, you can take a lakefront walk to help make children’s dreams come true.
The Walk For Wishes raises funds for Make-A-Wish, which grants the wishes of children with critical illnesses.
There are hundreds of children waiting for wishes to be granted by Make-A-Wish and your steps can help. Previous supporters have helped more than 550,000 wishes come true.
Registration for the Walk for Wishes is free, but you are then asked to get pledges or (and!) make a donation yourself to the cause.
Gates open on race day at 8 a.m. for the drop-off of pledges and then at 8:45, a Kids Dash takes place. The walk begins at 9 and starting at 9:15 there will be music from DJ JoJo, games, face painting, food trucks and more.
Everyone who raises $100 or more gets a T-shirt plus the pledge prize for which they qualify:
- $4,000 or more – Become a sponsor of a child's wish
- $1,000 or more – Choose two items from any of the levels below (limit one gift card).
- $750-$999 – A $75 Gift Card - Select from: Amazon, Target or Disney gift cards
- $350-$749 – Make-A-Wish Wisconsin quarter zip sweatshirt
- $125-$349 – Make-A-Wish Wisconsin branded beach towel

Free parking is available in Lots H and P and there are accessible parking spaces adjacent to the South Gate entrance.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he lived until he was 17, Bobby received his BA-Mass Communications from UWM in 1989 and has lived in Walker's Point, Bay View, Enderis Park, South Milwaukee and on the East Side.
He has published three non-fiction books in Italy – including one about an event in Milwaukee history, which was published in the U.S. in autumn 2010. Four more books, all about Milwaukee, have been published by The History Press.
With his most recent band, The Yell Leaders, Bobby released four LPs and had a songs featured in episodes of TV's "Party of Five" and "Dawson's Creek," and films in Japan, South America and the U.S. The Yell Leaders were named the best unsigned band in their region by VH-1 as part of its Rock Across America 1998 Tour. Most recently, the band contributed tracks to a UK vinyl/CD tribute to the Redskins and collaborated on a track with Italian novelist Enrico Remmert.
He's produced three installments of the "OMCD" series of local music compilations for OnMilwaukee.com and in 2007 produced a CD of Italian music and poetry.
In 2005, he was awarded the City of Asti's (Italy) Journalism Prize for his work focusing on that area. He has also won awards from the Milwaukee Press Club.
He has be heard on 88Nine Radio Milwaukee talking about his "Urban Spelunking" series of stories, in that station's most popular podcast.
