The BMO Harris Pavilion and Pabst Theater Group announced today that signature '80s rock groups Violent Femmes and Echo & the Bunnymen will co-headline the lakefront venue on Friday, July 21, as a part of their summer tour.
Born in Milwaukee, the Violent Femmes broke out in the '80s with catchy hits like "Blister in the Sun," "Gone Daddy Gone" and "Kiss Off." Almost 35 years after its debut record, the band still rocks on, touring in support of its their latest album "We Can Do Anything" – which has included stops at last year's Summerfest and a performance with Stephen Colbert on CBS's "The Late Show" – and winning high-profile new fans like "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling. Really!
Meanwhile, after more than 30 years without a Cream City stop, this summer's co-headliner show will serve as the second Milwaukee visit in as many years for Echo and the Bunnymen, which hit Turner Hall just last September with an emotional, nostalgia-happy show. The English rockers blew up in the '80s with hits like "The Cutter" and "The Killing Moon." The band's last album was 2014's "Meteorites," but judging by its two visits in two years, it's certainly staying busy.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show go on sale starting Friday, April 7 at 10 a.m. For more information on tickets and the show, visit The Pabst Theater Group's website.
And maybe, if this particular Femmes fan is lucky, he'll finally get the audience to be politely silent for "Add It Up."
