The UWM Panthers clinched a share of the Horizon League regular-season championship Saturday for the first time since 2006 -- head coach Rob Jeter's first season -- defeating Youngstown State, 94-87, in overtime.

The Panthers made just two field goals in overtime -- both of them three-pointers -- but that was more than enough as the Penguins got give of their seven points from the free-throw line and didn't make a bucket until the final seconds.

Ja'Rob McCallum and Anthony Hill led Milwaukee with 23 points. Tony Meier added 18, Tone Boyle 16 and Kaylon Willims 11.

The Milwaukee, which holds the tiebreaker advantage over possible co-champions Cleveland State and Butler, the No. 1 seed in the Horizon League Tournament, which begins Tuesday at campus sites.

The Panthers would receive an automatic bye into the semifinals, which will be held Saturday, March 5 at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Should they advance to the championship, that game would be played Tuesday, March 8 at the U.S. Cellular Arena.

"We've really worked hard. It wasn't that we were on the front-end of this. We were trying to get there every step of the way," said head coach Rob Jeter, who also recorded his 100th career victory. "I'm very proud of this team. These guys have been resilient. Before we put together nine in a row in the league, we were just trying to see if we could get to .500. I'm just really proud that this group put it together and every piece that we had contributed to help us win this championship."

Milwaukee finishes the regular season on a nine-game winning streak and has assured itself a berth in the NIT should the Panthers not get invited to the NCAA Tournament.
