Since the early 1900s the Milwaukee Press Club has maintained special honors conferred on persons of unusual and deserving repute. Among these is the Order of the Knight of Bohemia, the most esoteric and rarely bestowed citation.
Siblings Debra and Fred Usinger, the fourth-generation owners of Usinger's Famous Sausage, have been chosen to receive the honor this year. Only those who have won laudable reputation in civil, social, military or scientific bestowals are considered valid candidates. Debra and Fritz Usinger see themselves as the gatekeepers of our grandfathers dream. Fritz is president of the company while Debras business card refers to her as Vice President of Fun.
The induction will take place in conjunction with the club's annual meeting on Thursday, Sept. 9 at the Newsroom Pub from 5 to 9 p.m.
