Triskele's, 801 S. 3rd St., and OnMilwaukee partnered up on Friday, June 5 with "51 Fish fries For Pride" to honor the 51st anniversary of the Stonewall uprising and to boost a family-owned restaurant that struggled, like many, during the mandatory shutdown due to COVID-19.
Ordering started at noon via phone only and by 1 p.m. the owners Lynn Winter and JoLinda Klopp sold 70 fish fries.
"This was an absolutely overwhelmingly excellent experience! We sold out within an hour. If we had the capability we could have easily sold 3x as many," says Winter.
Triskele's cooking space is small and open – when sitting at the bar customers have the pleasure of watching the chef prepare their meal – so although the demand for many more fish fries was there, the cozy space and the owners' commitment to high-quality food capped it at 70 orders.
"The phone rang off the hook all day and night," says Winter.
Triskele's opened in 2007 between the Walker's Point and Bay View neighborhoods. They have a full menu and bar with curbside carry-out (for now) multiple nights a week.
