Last May we told you about Penthouse on Broadway, a new Third Ward martini lounge specializing in classic jazz and drinks at 184 N. Broadway.

A year later, owner Dona Myers tells us that she's decided to close her bar and replace it with Three Brothers Soup, Sandwich and Salad Shop (although the name conjures a near-legendary Bay View restaurant).

With nearly 20 bars open in the Third Ward, the switch makes sense. Myers aims to re-open as a café on Friday, June 16.

Three Brothers is open Monday through Saturday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and feature breakfast -- bagels, muffins, croissants, Alterra coffee -- until 10:30 a.m. Lunch and dinner features a large salad bar, made-to-order subs, daily soups, baked potatoes, desserts and ice cream.

Myers says delivery is available within the Historic Third Ward Monday through Friday between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
