A month after “soft” opening on June 7, the new Third Space Innovation Brewhouse, N71 W13040 Appleton Ave. at Good Hope Road in Menomonee Falls, has now expanded its menu.

Despite the name, the new location doesn’t have a brew system installed ... yet. That will be coming in the future as the venue opens in stages.

You can read more about the brewhouse in this progress report from late April.

When the doors were opened last month, it was with relatively limited hours – Wednesday-Friday 3-10 p.m. (with the kitchen open 4-9), Saturday noon-10 p.m. (kitchen 1-9) and Sunday noon-7 (kitchen 1-6) – and a limited menu of snacks.

On Thursday, Juy 11, however, the menu has been expanded to include burgers, sandwiches, an Italian sausage, a chicken sandwich and falafel. In addition to Bavarian pretzels, the snacks and shareables like fries, fried pickles, tots, and more, there are also some sweets on the menu, including an ice cream sundae and chocolate pie. A small kids menu has tenders, corn dogs and grilled cheese.

According to co-owner Kevin Wright, the plan is to further expand the menu over time and ultimately add lunch service, too.

Third Space also plans to be open seven days a week, once it has staffed up enough to do it well, he says.

The tap list will be familiar to fans of Third Space's original Menomonee Valley taproom, with flagships like Happy Place Midwest Pale Ale, Frog Weiss Fruited Sour, and Nice Day and Upward Spiral IPAs, among others, but there are also three brews that are exclusive to the Innovation Brewhouse.

Those are New Digs, a 7 percent ABV West Coast IPA and Cruise Control Citra Pale Ale (5.5 percent). Then, there’s also a 4.8 percent Kellerbier that’s on the side pull tap.

“It’s an everyday beer in the Franconia region (of Germany), north of Bavaria,” says Wright as he pours one. “It’s very drinkable.”

You can tell which beers on the tap list are exclusives because they’re marked with an “IBH.”

Just inside the door is a small merch stand and a cooler stocked with canned beer to take away.

On the left is the bar, which wraps around a corner and the kitchen is behind the wall. Off to the left, where you see the striking green Third Space can-art-influenced mural, are the restrooms.

Straight ahead at the far end of the space is the walled off area that will house the brew system when it is installed.

Off to the right, behind a low wall is the main seating area, with a garage door that opens to the large patio, part of which is covered. The seating outside is a mix of picnic tables and four-top tables.

There’s also an adjacent area with a performance space and fire pit that will be shared with whatever ends up opening on the opposite side of the outdoor area. That building appears to be complete, requiring only a final build-out for a tenant.

All around the brewhouse, apartment buildings continue to rise. But that work doesn’t seem to impinge on Third Space, which is bright and airy (designed by 360 Design) and welcoming and open for business.
