October is the third annual Dining Month on OnMilwaukee.com. All month, we're stuffed with restaurant reviews, delicious features, chef profiles, unique articles on everything food, as well as the winners of our "Best of Dining 2009."
For me, it's dinner, not supper.
Supper is just more formal. Well, not really formal but more family-oriented, I guess. Can't even think of the last time I called the evening meal supper. Can you?
Why this supper vs. dinner blog? I saw a sign outside Third Ward Caffé, 225 E. St. Paul Ave., this weekend and it made me think. It read, "Sunday Supper 4:00 PM-8:00 PM."
Supper, really? Why not dinner?
Maybe it's an Italian thing? Come to think of it, my grandparents called it supper. Maybe it's a Sunday thing? The evening meal on Sundays is supper, every other day is dinner.
Who knows what's right or wrong when it comes to this "debate." All I know is that all this evening meal talk is making me hungry.
A life-long and passionate community leader and Milwaukeean, Jeff Sherman is a co-founder of OnMilwaukee.

He owns a condo in Downtown and lives in greater Milwaukee with his wife Stephanie, his son, Jake, and daughter Pierce. He's a political, music, sports and news junkie and thinks, for what it's worth, that all new movies should be released in theaters, on demand, online and on DVD simultaneously.
