When I grew up, music was always something I loved. Like most people, I went through multiple stages of what music I liked at certain points in my life. I’ve had a rap stage, a classical stage, an oldies stage and more. When I was in middle school, I hit my pop-punk stage, where all I would do is listen to bands like Panic! At the Disco, Mayday Parade, All Time Low and others of the genre.

My love for these bands was not small. I would become obsessed with them and follow their whole lives. I would be on the internet all the time, so I could learn everything about them. It was honestly crazy.

Now, years later, I am not in this stage anymore, but I still enjoy revisiting these memories from time to time by going to a pop punk concert. I did just that by seeing Blink-182 headline the Marcus Amphitheater on Tuesday night.

I wasn’t the only one excited about bringing back my pop-punk nostalgia. People packed the Marcus. They went back into their closets and grabbed all their old punk T-shirts to show love for the band. The crowd was pumped up. They were jumping up and down like crazy, belting out the lyrics and having a great time.

The band wasn’t the original trio everyone grew up with and loved, however. Lead singer Tom DeLonge was replaced by Matt Skiba. Skiba is in the band Alkaline Trio but has also joined Blink-182, which was a great decision. 

Even though we all missed the original crew, Skiba did a great job on vocals and guitar. I was surprised how he just fit right in. He didn’t even make you question that the band had a different feel. You felt that you were still listening and watching the Blink 182 you've always known and loved.

Not only did Skiba rock, but the whole band killed it. They put on the rock show you would hope and dream of. They had a great, insane light show, they gave shout-outs to Milwaukee and even played a song in the complete darkness.

Overall, the show took you on a trip back to your teen angst years, making you wish you never left the stage. It was a night to remember, full of nostalgia, beer and good times. Milwaukee hasn't rocked this hard in a while, and it left people looking forward to when Blink-182 will return again.
