Summerfest started the week on Monday by announcing a whole bunch of ways to save money on Big Gig tickets. Some fans might have been sad, however, to see one promo missing from the list: Throwback Thursday. Thankfully, this morning, the Big Gig announced the popular ticket promo – added to the festival's admission discounts for the first time just last year – will return for 2018 on Thursday, June 28.
From May 9 through June 12, Pick 'n Save customers will receive four free Big Gig tickets – valid exclusively from noon until 6 p.m. on Throwback Thursday – for every $50 they spend at Pick 'n Save locations. The tickets will come printed at the bottom of your receipt and must be then redeemed at Summerfest ticket windows on June 28, with a limit of three offers (or 12 tickets) per transaction.
In addition to that admission deal, all beverages – save for smoothies and ice cream drinks – will be 50% off from noon until 6 p.m. on Throwback Thursday.
The day will also feature throwback performances including Matthew Sweet, The Posies, Alien Ant Farm, Lit, The Crystal Method, The Buckinghams, Sugar Hill Gang featuring Grandmaster Mele Mel & Scorpio Furious 5, Cryan' Shames, New Colony Six, The Ides of March featuring Jim Peterik, The New Power Generation and Shadows of Knight.
"We added Throwback Thursday to our lineup last year and it proved to be one of our most popular admission promotions – we are thrilled to bring it back for 2018," said Don Smiley, president and CEO of Milwaukee World Festival, Inc., in a press release. "Throwback Thursday is a nod to nostalgia and celebrates the rich musical history of Summerfest."

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.
When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
