At this point, your Christmas shopping is probably done. (And if not, hopefully the people left on your list will appreciate something from Piggly Wiggly or a hand-written "coupon.") However, if you were to buy a gift for the mayor of Milwaukee, Tom Barrett, what would it be?

E-mail us at soundoff@staff.onmilwaukee.com and if picked, we'll post your response next Sunday. Only submissions that include your full name and where you live will be considered.

Last week's question: What's it like for Milwaukeeans who don't celebrate Christmas?

People in Milwaukee who don't celebrate Christmas do the same thing that people who do: drink heavily.

It's lonely and boring on Christmas for me, and it always has been.

Does Milwaukee do enough to recognize that not everyone celebrates Christmas? Probably not. But I think that means there's something wrong with America moreso than it means that there's something wrong with Milwaukee itself. At least Milwaukee doesn't COMPLETELY shut down on Christmas. I was usually able to find at least a couple things to do the few times I absolutely had go out on Christmas night -- which is more than I can say about anywhere else in Wisconsin and most of the Midwest at that.
Nick Waldron
Milwaukee native, now living in Detroit, Mich.

I love Christmas in Milwaukee, even though I don't celebrate it. It's one of the few days that I can really relax because nobody's working, nothing's open and I don't feel like I "should" be doing anything but sitting around, eating and watching TV.
