Welcome to the OnMilwaukee.com Sunday Sound-off, featuring a question, two different perspectives -- then opening up the topic to our readers' responses. Please use the Talkback feature below to contribute your thoughts on the issue.
Last week, OnMilwaukee.com wrote an article about Pride Fest, which inspired an argument among talkbackers about whether or not the festival, which celebrates and unites the LGBT community, should be at the Henry Maier Festival Park.
What do you think? Even though Pride Fest isn't an "ethnic festival" like Irish Fest or Festa Italiana, should it still run at Summerfest, or somewhere else? Sound-off, Brew City!
Pride Fest doesn't belong here. The Henry Maier Festival Park is for Summerfest and ethnic festivals. Pride Fest isn't either and therefore it seems out of place. If Pride Fest gets to be there, shouldn't there be more "identity" festivals as well?
Pride Fest absolutely belongs here. With record-breaking attendance this year, Pride Fest needs the large space. Plus, there isn't a law or rule saying that festivals other than Summerfest have to be ethnic. Pride Fest brings another dimension to the already-rich festival season on the Henry Maier grounds.
