If things look a little greener around here this April, there’s a good reason. Our editorial staff is busy expanding the ideals of Earth Day into a month-long celebration of energy conservation, alternative transportation, recycling tips and about a million ways you can be a better friend to the planet. Welcome to Green Month, Milwaukee.
At this point, it's difficult to deny that changes need to be made to ensure the lasting health of our planet and species. However, in your opinion, has the “green movement” gone too far? Are you tired of hearing about global warming and businesses going green, or do you wish there was even more information out there about this shift in perceptions?
Sound off now, Milwaukee, and tell us what you think about the green revolution.
Enough already. I get it: I need to recycle. I need to consume less water and energy. I should consider buying less-toxic products. However, I am really fed up with being bombarded by green information. I cannot change my way of doing things overnight. Plus, I think a lot of businesses are going green because it’s fashionable, not because they really care about the future of the planet.
Bring it on. It’s about time the mainstream realized what’s really going on with the environment. We could easily be the first species to cause our extinction. We have a chance to prevent this -- or at least prolong it -- and if we do not take it, we’re basically on a suicide mission. The modern green movement is only scratching the surface of all that needs to be done to reverse the effects of years of environmental negligence. It’s a start, but we need more information and commitment to really make a difference.
