Silver City welcomes two new businesses to National Avenue today.

Flower Designs by Pahoua, located at 3111 W. National Ave., has set up shop in a space that once housed Western Bilingual Employment Services.

Meanwhile, Mexican restaurant El Rey de Pollo, the newest location in the Fiesta Garibaldi restaurant group, opens its doors in the former Noodle House, 3433 W. National Ave.

With the ribbon-cutting ceremonies held this morning, both the flower shop and restaurant are open for business and touting discounts and specials as part of their opening day celebrations.

Flower Designs by Pahoua's team will showcase its arrangements and offer up appetizers, a raffle and discounts on holiday arrangements, and El Rey de Pollo is serving up savings for the day with two-for-one lunch specials and discounts on large orders.

Contrary to her natural state of being, Renee Lorenz is a total optimist when it comes to Milwaukee. Since beginning her career with OnMilwaukee.com, her occasional forays into the awesomeness that is the Brew City have turned into an overwhelming desire to discover anything and everything that's new, fun or just ... "different."

Expect her random musings to cover both the new and "new-to-her" aspects of Miltown goings-on, in addition to periodically straying completely off-topic, which usually manifests itself in the form of an obscure movie reference.
