After uncertain times since the mandatory shutdown due to the pandemic, Sherman Phoenix, 3536 W. Fond du Lac Ave., officially reopened today with food, entertainment and a visit from Governor Tony Evers.
Located inside a former BMO Bank, the Sherman Phoenix is a food hall, retail spot, healing center and community-building space housing more than 20 businesses primarily owned by people of color. It opened in 2018 as a venture to invest in the community after it experienced the death of a Black man by a police officer which led to neighborhood unrest.
Today, Sherman Phoenix offers a variety of restaurants like Funky Fresh Spring Rolls, Buffalo Boss, Purple Door Ice Cream, Lush Popcorn, Rise & Grind Coffee and more. It also houses hair and nail salons, homeopathic items, clothing, art, yoga and more.
Sherman Phoenix's hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Masks are still required.
