The Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet, a local restaurant advocacy group, will team up with Milwaukee Public School administration, students, and corporate partners this weekend to show support for the Sherman Park Neighborhood by hosting the first annual Sherman Park Revival Celebration on Sunday, Aug. 20 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The free family-friendly event will kick off at Sherman Park, 3000 N. Sherman Blvd., with a press conference at 12:30 p.m., as local elected officials and community leaders highlight community partnerships and the importance of rebuilding the Sherman Park neighborhood.

The focus of the event, overall, will be on positive programs and projects that have taken place since the Sherman Park incident in August 2016. It will also highlight the commitment to continuing efforts to improve outcomes for area residents.

During the celebration, 250 pre-selected MPS students will receive school supplies-filled backpacks from Kohl’s, lunch bags from the Milwaukee Bucks and tickets for a Milwaukee Brewers game.

SURG Restaurant Group, a member of the Milwaukee Kitchen Cabinet, will serve prime Carnevor steaks and other refreshments. Meanwhile, Gruber Law Offices will sponsor family entertainment and refreshments including bounce houses, cotton candy and more.

Additional sponsors include Associated Bank, VISIT Milwaukee, and Phoenix Investors, a national developer and Milwaukee stakeholder who partners with public officials to redevelop distressed properties and create safer neighborhoods. Jim Mueller, President and CEO of Mueller QAAS also contributed to the event.

"The rehabilitation of the Sherman Park area compliments our mission of revitalizing neighborhoods and increasing economic opportunities," said Chairman and Founder of Phoenix Investors Frank Crivello. "We are honored to support the incredible work being done in the City of Milwaukee."
