Right-hander Ben Sheets, who has been sidelined with shoulder tendinitis since May 3, has been cleared to make a rehab start this weekend. Barring a setback in that outing or a subsequent turn (or two), Sheets could rejoin Milwaukee's rotation by the end of July or early August.
Sheets is slated to throw 65 pitches for Class AAA Nashville on Sunday in Round Rock, Texas. He will then join the Brewers in Arizona for the start of the second half of the season and will throw a game in the Arizona Rookie League on July 14. After that stint, which is slated for 85 pitches, Sheets will be evaluated by team medical staff.
Right-hander Tomo Ohka, who has been out since May 2 with a partial undersurface tear of his right rotator cuff, is scheduled to make his second rehab start for Class A Brevard County on Saturday at Palm Beach. He is slated to throw 85 pitches, then will join the Brewers in Arizona for further evaluation.
Lefty Jorge De La Rosa, coming back from a blister on the middle finger of his left hand, will make his third rehab start for Class AA Huntsville Saturday at Birmingham. His next scheduled starts are July 13 against Mississippi, July 18 at Carolina and July 24 vs. Birmingham.
Shortstop J.J. Hardy worked out on the field Wednesday afternoon and could start a rehab assignment in the Arizona League immediately after the all-star break.
