Eight Waukesha area restaurants have stepped up to create delicious dishes using McDonald’s ingredients at Unwrapped Waukesha Edition, a delectable food-filled fundraiser to benefit SHARP Literacy.

The event will take place on Sunday, Feb. 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Wisconsin Brewing Company Park, 1011 Blue Ribbon Cir. N in Oconomowoc, home of the Lake Country DockHounds.

During the event, which will be emceed by Steph Brown of TMJ4, restaurants will showcase delicious Wisconsin winter-inspired appetizer, entree and dessert bites.  All will make use of ingredients donated by McDonald’s (including chicken, eggs, beef, cheese, lettuce, onions and tomatoes) along with chefs' seasonings and creativity. Families with children will also enjoy a Kid Zone with art projects, games and other activities.

Guests will also have the opportunity to partake in a silent auction featuring a variety of themed baskets. The auction opens online February 18, giving those unable to attend Unwrapped Waukesha the opportunity to support SHARP Literacy.

Creative bites for a cause

All proceeds from the event and auction will support the delivery of SHARP’s STEAM-based programming to K3 through 5th grade students and educators at four Waukesha schools.

“Residents of Waukesha County have embraced SHARP and the work we’re doing in urban schools to create lifelong learners in this community,” said Lynda K. Welsh, president and CEO of SHARP Literacy.

“Their support directly translates into STEAM programming, educational tours, summer programs, mural projects, mentor reading programs and so much more for the students and educators we serve.”

The participating restaurants for the event include:

  • Bartolotta Restaurants
  • Bella Gusto
  • Butter Than The Rest
  • Daybreak Prime Meats
  • PROOF Hard Ice Cream
  • Saz’s Hospitality Group
  • Wisconsin Brewing Company Park

“Comfort foods can bring us happy memories and connect us to others in a way that only food can,” said Welsh. “We are so thankful for these generous restaurants and chefs who are donating their time and talents and are sharing a little piece of their heart with food. We can’t wait to see what they invent with McDonald’s core ingredients.”
