On Monday, I posted about the 67 school referenda on the ballot across the state in Tuesday’s election and this morning I wanted to follow-up with some results.
You can get some background on these ballot questions by reading my Monday post here.
Then, the Wheeler Report has posted a list of the referendum details and results here.
The list will be updated, but is mostly complete already; only two measures remain unreported on the list (in Cuba City).
Of the remaining 64 ballot questions, 11 failed and all others were passed by voters.
"State lawmakers who have gutted funding for their neighborhood public schools should wake up and smell the coffee this morning, given the results of Tuesday’s school referendums," said Ron Martin, an Eau Claire social studies teacher and president of the Wisconsin Education Association Council in a statement this morning.
"Voters have again supported raising taxes on themselves to be sure their children have opportunities for success. The people we elect to represent us in Madison should keep in mind, as they develop the next state budget, that Wisconsin loves its public schools and we are counting on them to work for us, not against us."
