There are all sorts of reasons that celebrities come to Wisconsin. Some live here, others have family here.

Some come to work here with a concert or a film production. Others come as tourists, visiting Summerfest, the EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh or another event.

But on Thursday night, actor Robert Downey Jr. dined with a pair of guests at the Packing House, 900 E. Layton Ave. Word is he was waiting for a plane at Signature Flight Support, across the street.

I'm guessing with the proximity to the airport, where private planes come and go as the commercial flights do, that he was stopping here on the way to somewhere else.

"King filet, side of shrimp scampi, sautéed mushrooms, bacon wrapped water chestnuts & escargot. Good tipper & friendly," The Packing House reported on Twitter on Friday. "He was with two other gentlemen. They split the appetizers but Downey ate well!"

One theory was that he was en route to Massachusetts to shoot his next film. The weather may have caused a delay and re-route to here in Milwaukee. The actor, known for his recent work as Tony Stark of the "Iron Man" and "Avengers" films, will be starring in "The Judge" with Leighton Meester, Dax Shepard, Billy Bob Thornton, Robert Duvall and Vera Farmiga. It is slated to be released in 2014.
