This is the first of several Kramp Casts which focus on bands that are playing this year’s Summerfest. I truly believe that the line up this year is pretty solid. The festival has a wide variety of old and new artists in diverse musical genres to choose from.
Performing tonight at the Miller Lite Oasis at 8 p.m. is musician Robert Delong. Robert grew up playing and teaching drums but also has a deep knowledge of computer programming which has allowed this one man show to shine as he seamlessly uses drums, synthesizers and video game controllers while singing. One of his song titles is "Survival Of The Fittest" and you can tell through his live act that he knows how to survive on his own. It is a show you have to see to believe.
Delong’s electro-pop debut CD "Just Movement" is something that could easily be heard at a club, but also has lyrical breakdowns that are as sweet at his voice. From the radio friendly song "Global Concepts" to "Basically I" or "Religious Views," he shows his ability to make people dance while still posing questions of his faith and future.
In today’s Kramp Cast I talk to Delong about his music and musical tastes, the deeper meanings to his lyrics, being a solo performer and if life were just a game which video game he would prefer to be stuck in. You can tell he’s in a good place right now and happy about the success he’s received from the debut CD and his intriguing sound. Enjoy!
