After collaborating on a pair of beers with Marquette students, two Marquette alumni founders of local craft breweries are teaming up on their own for a new brew.

Broken Bat Brewery’s Tim Pauly and Gathering Place Brewing’s Joe Yeado have brewed a langer called Ring Out Ahoya that will be released in early November to celebrate the start of the college basketball season.

Pauly and Yeado worked with the student-run venture called Blue & Gold Brewing to brew ‘77 Golden Ale in 2023 and The Beer Can Cream Ale in 2024.  Although the alumni wanted to keep going, Blue & Gold decided not to continue doing beers, so Pauly and Yeado did it on their own.

The lager is brewed with malt from Chilton’s Briess Malting.

The name is the same as MU’s fight song. And because Marquette draws many students from Illinois, the locally distributed beer will also be available at some accounts in the Chicago area.

“Having built Blue & Gold Brewing Co. from the ground up over the last 2+ years was nothing short of a career highlight,” said Pauly, a 2010 MU graduate. “The two student cohorts that we worked with blew away expectations, the hours and effort put into the projects were tremendous, and the results over the last 2 years were nothing short of spectacular - highlighted by the support of our incredible community.

“Joe and I are proud to continue the momentum with this perfect Game Day beer, brewed by alumni – for alumni. Ring Out Ahoya!”

“We really enjoyed working with students and helping create beers that resonated with the alumni community,” added 2007 grad Yeado.

“We showed there is a demand for this product and I’m excited to continue working with Tim to share a great beer with other alumni and supporters.”
