Georges Duboeuf Brouilly 2011 – Right up front, I'm going to admit to my ignorance of the ins and outs of Beaujolais. That distinct lack of knowledge was clear when I was so impressed with this bottle of wine that I posted a photo of the label on Facebook. Immediately, a couple friends started debating the relative merits of all sorts of variations and labels, raving about Duboeuf. I just know this gamay is delicious. For a bit of background, my friend – and wine expert – Nate Norfolk noted that, "Georges Deboeuf is the largest producer of Beaujolais. Brouilly is one of the 10 crus of Beaujolais." The 2011 Brouilly that I tasted has intense perfume, a gorgeous ruby red color and a velvety smooth texture. Those alluring features, along with its strong fruitiness – think ripe plums and strawberries with a dash of cherry – make this the kind of wine that will turn heads. Uncork it next time friends are over and you'll look like an oenophile genius. And all for about $15. – Bobby Tanzilo

Bucks basketball – If you haven't noticed, the Milwaukee Bucks are 5-2 and atop the Central Division. They're playing an exciting brand of fast-paced, high-scoring basketball that is anchored on the other end by steals and blocked shots. The Bucks host the New Orleans Hornets tonight at the BMO Harris Bradley Center and it's the last time you'll get to see them at home until after Thanksgiving. The Hornets are without high scoring guard Eric Gordon, but Anthony Davis – the No. 1 overall draft pick – will be playing. – Jim Owczarski

Firefly's hot drinks – The temperature is dropping, but that's no reason to let your social life follow suit. I recently made a long-overdue return to Firefly Bar & Grill in downtown Tosa and opted to warm up with one of the toasty libations. My favorite, the Harvest Apple Cider, won me over right away with its simple description as "spiked to perfection." It certainly was, and with its spicy apple flavor, it made for a sweet consolation on the edge of my encroaching nemesis, winter. – Renee Lorenz
