With the increasing popularity of craft beers has also come a popularity bump for growlers. For the uninitiated, growlers are typically glass or ceramic 64-ounce containers that allow people to purchase tap or craft beers, fill up on a tasty brew and take them to go.
It's a hot trend, and now Ray's Wine and Spirits, 8930 W. North Ave., is jumping on board, replacing its second-floor tasting room and education center with Ray's Growler Gallery.
The new growler hotspot is scheduled to open in mid-June with a continually rotating supply of craft beers made exclusively for the gallery, along with rare, brewery-only releases and special selections unavailable in bottled format.
"The Midwest has some phenomenally talented, small production breweries, and with the Growler Gallery, we are creating a canvas to showcase masterful craft beer works of art, while at the same time elevating and expanding Wisconsin's craft culture," said marketing director and Gallery co-creator Kaleb Schwecke in a press release this afternoon.
To follow the project before it opens next month, Ray's has already set up a Twitter handle for the Growler Gallery.
