March Madness is here, and the basketball action heats up in Milwaukee this week as the Bradley Center hosts the Midwest and West regional rounds of the "big dance." With fans flocking from near and far, the editorial staff at OnMilwaukee.com thought we'd help greet our new visitors with a week's worth of features and guides to everything that makes our city a great place to visit. It's "Welcome to Milwaukee Week" at OnMilwaukee.com!

As much as we like our sports here in Milwaukee, we also love just about anything that's free. The Wisconsin Sports Walk of Fame combines those two pastimes.

Located along the west side of North 4th Street -- between State Street and Kilbourn Avenue, and directly south of the Bradley Center -- the Walk of Fame salutes over 100 legendary athletes with ties to the Badger State.

Among the enshrined: baseball Hall of Famers Hank Aaron and Robin Yount, Olympians Bonnie Blair, Dan Jansen and Eric Heiden, former Packers coach Vince Lombardi and a number of his former players as well as former University of Wisconsin football coach Barry Alvarez.

On your way to the Bradley Center,  take a few minutes to soak in some sports history.

When to go: Before or after an event at the Bradley Center; the Walk of Fame is attached to the east side of the U.S. Cellular Arena and directly south of the Bradley Center. It's well-lit, too, so check it out on your way home if you are in a hurry to get to your seat.

Why should I go? Why not? It's free. It's close and it's loaded with sports legends.

How much does it cost: Absolutely nothing.
