The Diablos Rojos Restaurant Group -- the owners of Trocadero, Red Light, Hi Hat Lounge and Hi Hat Garage -- are the first business people in Milwaukee to join the (Product)Red campaign.
(Product)Red, created by U2 lead singer Bono, was conceived to involve businesses worldwide in the fight against AIDS in Africa.
"We felt this was a really important mission at an extremely critical time," says Mike Eitel of Diablos Rojos.
Trocadero, 1758 N. Water St., hosts a special "Wine Lovers Wednesday" on Wednesday, Nov. 1 to mark the start of a month-long commitment to contributing five percent of all red wine sales to (Product)Red. It's also the bistro's fifth anniversary.
Hi Hat Lounge and Garage, 1701 N. Arlington Pl., launch Inspi(red) Wednesdays with surprise musical guests, DJs and African-inspired food and drink. Inspi(red) Wednesdays take place every Wednesday evening in December at 9 p.m.
Red Light at Trocadero hosts (Babylon)Red with drink specials and DJ John Murges on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 10 p.m.
Ten percent of proceeds from these specials will go towards the fund. A variety of "red" products are also available that benefit the fund as well.
"The rest of the world is preoccupied with various political crises and war, and in the meantime, millions of impoverished people are dying due to lack of proper healthcare, access to medicine and basic necessities like clean water and food," says Eitel.
